Lake County Sheriff Department said that Robert Crimo III, 22, was considered to be "armed and dangerous". Crimo was driving a 2010 silver Honda Fit with Illinois license plates. Robert E. Crimo III was taken into custody near Lake Forest, IL after a North Chicago officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Crimo then fled and led officers on a brief pursuit before being stopped in Lake Forest, Illinois.

He was taken into custody without incident and will be taken to the Highland Park police department.

The Independence Day parade in the Chicago suburb, which is located 25 miles north of the downtown was stopped after Robert Crimo III fired shots into the crowd of innocent bystanders, leaving at least six dead and Dozens injured. Sixteen people were transferred to the hospital for their injuries, according to a press release from the city, and there were others who went to nearby hospitals on their own.
